Over 70 percent of the school’s students achieved grades A* to C, with 12 percent of students receiving straight As. This has enabled one hundred percent of students to be offered a university place with 80 percent securing places at top third universities.
Students will be going on to study at a variety of top destinations, including Imperial College London, Kings College London, London School of Economics, University College London, University of Warwick and Queen Mary University of London.
Mohammed Idrees Ahmed joined Ark Globe Academy Nursery in 2011 and has completed and all-through education at Globe. He achieved four A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. He will study joint Mathematics and Computer Science at Imperial College London. He said:
“I feel very proud because I've been working very hard for two whole years. Sometimes when you're working, it's hard to see the end goal when it's far away, but it's nice that I get to see an actual outcome. I’ll miss the people. The culture is very good - people support each other. Aim really high, and if you don't make it, at least you’ll get close.”
Other successes include:
- Kadija Oceane Samake who joined Ark Globe Academy in Year 7 achieved straight As in English Literature, Psychology and Sociology, and will study Law at the University of Warwick. She said “I feel amazing. I worked super hard, and I think I got the results that I deserve. Even though I've got the academic success, I think what means the most is the relationships I've built, not only with students, but with teachers. I think we're just a whole big family in the school, and I will take that along with me for the rest of my life.”
Earlier this year, Kadija was awarded the £23,625 Reuben Bursary through Ark's bursary programme, which supports outstanding students who have demonstrated academic excellence, contributed significantly to school life, and shown a strong commitment to their communities.
- Twins Mahia and Sumaiya Zannat arrived in the UK from the Middle East at the age of 14 and joined Ark Globe Academy in Year 10 as part of our English as Alternative Language (EAL) cohort. Through their growth mindset, they both achieved straight As in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry. Mahia will go on to study Medicine at Kings College London and Sumaiya will study Applied Medical Sciences at University College London. Sumaiya said “One thing I will take away from Sixth Form is the lessons that we had in Chemistry with Mr Gimson. That was my favourite subject. We had a small class and everyone was really close, and he really helped.” Mahia said “I think what matters is the effort you put in, not the results, because everything's going to work out anyway.”
- Eugene Boateng who joined Ark Globe Academy in Year 12 achieved D*, D*, D in Business Studies, and will study Marketing and Management with a year in industry at Queen Mary University. He said “I'm exceedingly grateful because I got higher than expected. One thing I'll take away from my time in Sixth Form is to always be open to building relationships and meeting new people. I came from a different secondary school so I had to adapt to the culture. I wouldn't be where I am if I didn't have the relationships that I had in Sixth Form. There was a time where I was about two years behind education because I got diagnosed as dyslexic but I did not let that limit my mindset in terms of what I was going to do and focused on the goal. It just shows if you believe and apply yourself, anything is genuinely possible.”
- Jordan Ulysses-Jihad who joined Ark Globe Academy in Year 7 achieved D*, D*, D* in the Sports BTEC, and will study Physiotherapy at City St George’s, University of London. He said “I feel amazing about my results. I’m proud of myself for working hard and getting these results. From the beginning, lock in on your work, especially with coursework. One thing I'll take away from my time at Sixth Form is the community. Everyone's close together. Everyone's friends.”
These A Level results come on the back of a highly successful year for Ark Globe Academy, which was graded ‘exceptional’ for Inclusion, Leadership and Governance, Personal Development and Wellbeing, and Post-16 Provision in its May Ofsted inspection. The academy was also graded as ‘strong standard’ in Achievement, Behaviour and Attendance, Curriculum and Teaching, and Early Years.
The ‘exceptional’ grading represents approximately 4% of all judgements given by Ofsted under the new framework. Inspectors highlighted the school’s strong culture and sense of belonging, noting that Globe students “are delighted to be able to attend this school each and every day”, that they “know that they belong”, and that the school is their “home from home”.
