Home Learning

Overview

At Globe, we understand the importance and value of additional learning outside the classroom. We believe that home learning is used to acquire and secure knowledge. This may be through tasks linked to the Knowledge Organisers, through the use of online platforms (such as Sparks in Math and SENECA, or through bespoke revision tasks and exam questions)

In each lesson time is set aside for the setting and recording on home learning and reminders are given ahead of due dates. Where home learning is incomplete, this will be completed as part of a C2 detention.

Home learning is set as follows:

Year 7 – 9

  • 20 minutes a day in English, Math and Science (set as one piece of HL to be completed over the week)
  • 30 minutes of either Geography or History and French or Spanish once a week.
  • All other subjects through pre reading the content of the Knowledge Organiser to prepare for upcoming lessons
  • Holiday home learning based on Knowledge Organisers with students pre-learning key knowledge for the term ahead

Year 10 and 11

  • 20 minutes a day in English, Math and Science (set as one piece of HL to be completed over the week)
  • 30 minutes per week for all GCSE subjects selected through the Option process
  • Holiday home learning based on Knowledge Organisers with students pre-learning key knowledge for the term ahead

Year 12 and 13

  • 2 hours per week per each A level subject focused on ‘flipped learning’ a preparation for upcoming lessons.
  • Holiday home learning based on Knowledge Organisers with students pre-learning key knowledge for the term ahead
