Overview

We provide every pupil with the opportunity to take part in a broad range of sports and physical activities that often go beyond the standard curriculum.

The PE department offers an extensive extra-curricular programme before school (7:30am – 8:15am), breaktime (10:40am – 10:55am) lunchtime (12:45pm – 1:15pm), after school (3:15pm – 4:15pm). Students are encouraged to attend as many of the clubs as possible.

Elite Player Programme (EPP)

The EPP is a system at Ark Globe designed to push our most talented sportsmen and women to the highest level possible combining intensive training and supporting their academic studies. It's aimed at students in year 7 – 9.

The aims are:

  • To allow our best athletes the best chance of reaching their full potential as players and take the ‘next steps’ – represent county/academy trials.
  • To improve players core skills and fitness levels.
  • To educate players in how to fully prepare mentally and physically for sport at an Elite level.

There a 3 sports in the programme: basketball, athletics, and football. Students participating in the programme recieve an EPP training session each week.

    Competitions

The Academy regularly enters girls and boys teams into a variety of national, county and district competitions; this includes the following:

National level County level Borough level
    English Schools Athletics Football Football
    NBA Basketball Cross Country Netball
    Football Basketball Rugby
English Schools Cross Country Athletics Basketball
Lee Valley Indoor & Outdoor Athletics Cup Athletics
        Table Tennis

    Football Academy

The Ark Globe Football Academy gives students the opportunity to combine their academic studies with an exceptional Fulham Football programme.

At the Academy players will study the BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science. Alongside this, players will be provided with a minimum of 6 hours of training from Fulham coaches, a fixture each week, showcase matches and exposure to Fulham FC.

We welcome all students that have a passion for Football and would like to progress into a career in Football or Sport in general. The BTEC Sport and Exercise Science course is the equivalent of three A-levels, so this would enable students to progress onto to university or enter full-time employment.

    Athletics Team

We received amazing results at the latest English Schools Athletics Cup in June 2021. Both junior (Year 7–8) and inter (Year 9–10) boys teams became London and regional champions with the juniors coming fifth in the country. The junior girls team became second and inters become third in London. We installed a long jump pit in our playground in April 2021 and after only training on it for four months, Reuben (Year 9) received a gold medal for long jump and became the London champion. Seven other boys and girls received gold and silver medals in hammer and discus in the London School Championship and other 4 boys also became London champions.

    Swimming

At Ark Globe, Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils participate in swimming lessons for one term. The pupils all go to The Castle Leisure Centre, Elephant and Castle every week for a 30 minute lesson.
