Meal payments
Lunches are provided free of charge for:
- Primary children in Reception to Year 6
- Secondary children eligble for Free School Meals
- Secondary children eligible for for universal credit free school meal (UCFSM) scheme
The price for a meal deal which includes either a hot meal or baguette and a dessert is £2.34. All school meals can be paid for via iPayimpact.

Applying for benefit-related free school meals
Some parents may be entitled to receive benefit-related free school meals for their children. If your child is in Y7-13 and entitled to free school meals, their accounts will be automatically credited with £2.34 each day which they can spend on lunch.
Breakfast is not included and will need to be paid for separately via iPayimact.

We may ask you to submit further evidence for us to check. To qualify for free school meals, you must be in receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Income Support
- Income based Job Seekers Allowance
- Child Tax Credit with no Working Tax Credit and where the household income is less than £16,190
- Guarantee element of State Pension Credit (sole source)
- Income related employment and support allowance
- Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Universal Credit (this will be calculated based on statements from the last 3 months)
- Working Tax Credit run-on (current tax credit letter from HMRC required. If you receive Working Tax Credit, work more than 16 hours per week or earn more than £16,190 per annum your child will not be eligible)
Free Healthy School Meals (FHSM) for secondary pupils
The council will now be offering free school meals to all secondary school pupils from families who are in receipt of Universal Credit and are not currently eligible for benefits related Free School Meals (FSMs).
This is offered for students in Y7-13 who are not currently eligible for national benefits-related Free School Meals (FSM) and:
- in receipt of Universal Credit (UC);
- or, are NRPF pupils supported by the council under section 17 of the Children Act 1989
Parents/carers can submit one of the below as their evidence via email. Eligibility will be checked by schools.
- Recent bank statement with Universal Credit deposit evidence
- Screenshot of current Universal Credit portal account
- Letter confirming they are supported by the Council due to NRPF

Breakfast club
Breakfast is available for secondary students to purchase from 7.30am-8.30am each day.
