Sex and Relationship Education
As we prepare students for university and to be leaders in their community, we work to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive PSHE [Personal, Social & Health Education] curriculum. This gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy and productive lives where they can make informed decisions.
In 2019, The Department for Education announced that it is a statutory requirement that all schools in England and Wales are teaching Relationship and Health Education (RHE) & Sex and Relationship Education (SRE) as a fundamental part of the curriculum. Due to the pandemic, the date for its inclusion was postponed but it is now expected to be part of the education that all schools provide to young people.
At Ark Globe Academy, PSHE has always been part of our curriculum. As such we have been able to deliver many aspects of the new statutory content and meet the needs of our students. However, as part of reviewing our existing provision and implementing a new Relationship and Health Education (RHE) Policy & Sex and Relationship Education [RSE] Policy, we want to consult with parent and carers to ensure there is a consensus on our approaches to policy and the curriculum content.
The consulation period is now closed.
