Secondary Maths Competition
Wednesday 14 August 2019
We hosted about 65 students from 14 schools at our Academy for the ‘Count on Us’ Maths Challenge. The competition was for Year 8 and 9 students and organised by the Mayor’s Fund and Jack Petchey Foundation. From the first teams arriving to the last minute of the event, there was a real buzz in our Pentagon Hall! The students received a combination of mental arithmetic and problem solving tasks and competed in a variety of areas from the Game of Hex to code breaking. Ark Globe students gave an excellent performance and came third place!
After the competition at our Academy, students went to the semi finals at City Hall. They didn’t manage to secure a place in the final, however coming 3rd place in the competition is already a big achievement and we would like to congratulate all students who took part.
