Nick Gibb MP congratulates Globe Academy on our achievement
Tuesday 21 October 2014
Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for School Reform, recently wrote to congratulate us on our high achievement in this year’s phonics check.
“The Department for Education wants to ensure that every child develops a firm grasp of phonics so I was obviously delighted to see your results. To be in the top 2% of schools with 100% of pupils achieving the expected standard in the check is a tremendous achievement and points to a high standard of phonics teaching in your school.” Said Nick Gibb MP in his letter.
Our aim within our primary school is that every child should enjoy reading; both for life skills and pleasure. Our children learn to read through a synthetic phonics programme (Read, Write Inc). This programme is complemented with a range of reading comprehension activities.
Earlier this year we were very pleased to have also won a SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for our outstanding progress. The award is to recognise our achievement of being in the top 10% of primary schools nationally for value-added. Read more about our SSAT award
