Gardening Club enjoy gardening the four seasons

Wednesday 08 January 2020

Our Gardening Club members love observing the four seasons in the garden. At the end of summer term, they picked the strawberries they had planted and prepared for the autumn harvest. When they came back to the academy after the summer break, they picked tomatoes and courgettes. Everybody loved the fresh scent of the cherry tomatoes!

Later on in the term, they harvested their autumn vegetables, including a crown prince squash and pumpkins. These curious vegetables attracted lots of attention when we shared a photo on our Twitter account. They are types of squash, but their varied shapes are really interesting. The garden sometimes provides fresh vegetables and herbs for Principal’s Lunch and staff events, as well as the Cooking Club. Well done to Gardening Club for their love of nature and continuing work with Ms Hammond in the garden.
