Fantastic Business Volunteers in our Early Years Playground
Wednesday 14 August 2019
20 hardworking volunteers from one of our business partners, Brewin Dolphin, spent a day at our Academy to work in Early Years provision. Some of the volunteers did gardening and created a beautiful new garden space in the Nursery and Reception playground. They planted flowers, strawberries, rosemary, lavender and parsley.
Another team challenge for Brewin Dolphin volunteers was colourfully painting the picnic tables and benches. The brief which came from our Reception students was clear - they wanted RAINBOW. The volunteers were happy to take on this challenge and transformed the playground with the rainbow colours. Some volunteers painted chalkboard paint on fences which created 4 more blackboards for our students. Volunteers also treated some of the wood materials in natural colour, like sandbeds, the performing stage and the mini theatre house.
At the same time, some other volunteers assisted our Reception and Nursery teachers in the classrooms, at the Friday assembly and during playtime in the playground. Volunteers said that they thoroughly enjoyed the day. Our Primary Principal, Sam Colburn’s brother Tom Colburn was also amongst the volunteers, as Tom is a Director at Brewin Dolphin. Our whole Academy is thankful to the Brewin Dolphin volunteers for their support to our Academy and for their hard work on the day despite the rain!
