Sixth Form Networking Evening
Over 100 professionals came together with our Sixth Form and select Year 11 students at our biggest Networking Evening so far! This year the event also celebrated the academy’s 10th anniversary with our business and community partners who are committed to supporting our young people. The guests came from various professional backgrounds, such as government, museums, media, health, law, finance, charity, medicine… They shared their insights, inspired the students and gave them advice about preparing for working life. Our students had the chance to practice their networking skills with these inspirational people.
Our Head of Student Leadership, Radika (Year 13), while opening the event with a welcome speech, mentioned how she had benefited from the Networking Event at Ark Globe last year. As a result of a contact that Radika made last year, she had the amazing opportunity of paid work experience at the EY Foundation in partnership with government offices, and big law and finance companies.
The event hosted the CEO of Ark schools, Lucy Heller, and the Chair of Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Margaret Casely-Hayford, CBE. Casely-Hayford praised the students’ confidence and professionalism: “I was so inspired and energized by the young people I met tonight. I was very much impressed by the degree of organisation. Also the students’ own exuberance spills over and I can see them being really well-connected in the future. This is exactly what they need to get on well in any industry.” We also received lots of lovely comments by the guests on Twitter.
