Our Sixth Formers launched a new programme called the Inclusion Ambassadors in partnership with the Inclusion department. Ten Year 12 students are selected to be Inclusion Ambassadors based on their enthusiasm and commitment to supporting others. The Inclusion Ambassadors give one of their study periods a week to providing in-class support to students in Years 7 and 8 with special education needs (SEN) and English as an Additional Language (EAL). Year 7 and 8s receive support across a range of different subjects from Maths and Science, to English and PE.
Through this programme, Inclusion Ambassadors develop skills that can be translated to the workplace and younger students benefit from peer-to-peer tutoring and developing ties with older role models in the school. Natasha (Year 12) said: “I have learnt that people have different needs and it’s my pleasure to work with younger students and help them by sharing my previous experience and guiding them if they need any help”. Jahkyro (Year 8) said: “I like getting help from Sixth Form students because they make learning more understandable.”
