We organized our first ever ‘Legacy Day’ in January this year, which hosted alumni at our academy. Since our Sixth Form has sent its second cohort of graduates to universities and careers, it was a fantastic opportunity to gather the alumni in the academy for a day. Alumni from other Ark schools attended as well.
The programme started with a breakfast with our Principal, Mr Jones and governors. Alumni then had a session of speed dating-type networking, where they had the chance to talk about how their year at university or work has been, swap ideas, advices and stories with one another.
In the afternoon our alumni had the chance to give back to the community and volunteer in the secondary school. They went into lessons and supported the teachers. They also spent time with Sixth Formers in various activities, such as the student panel, helping out with UCAS, or a Pub Quiz. Our Sixth Formers made the most of this opportunity to ask alumni questions about what university is really like.
The Legacy Day was very productive and enjoyed by both alumni and students. We are already looking forward to our second Legacy Day in 2019!
