Ark Globe at the London Marathon

An Ark employee, Tom Rose, volunteered to run the London Marathon on 22 April 2018 to raise funds for our Academy. Tom finished the marathon in 4 hours and 31 minutes and raised an incredible £2,702.50!

All of our school community was very proud and grateful to Tom for his courage and generosity for volunteering to run the marathon after London Marathon Events donated a guaranteed place to our Academy. After finishing he said: “It was such an amazing race, and doing it for Globe really spurred me on when it got really tough at mile 20.”

Tom came to our Academy with his marathon medal for an assembly to talk to our students about his inspiring marathon story and to run with the students at Mini Half at Ark Globe. After the Mini Half race had been cancelled in March due to adverse weather conditions, we decided to organise it in our Academy. Students from Primary and Secondary ran the Mini Half with Ms D-H and Tom being their pacemakers. Every student completed 2.4 miles’ run and showed great resilience and professionalism. The very good news is that students decided to start a running club right after the race! Very well done all of our Mini Half runners.
